Women's Water Polo Inks Local Standout

Nov. 20, 2007

Los Angeles, CA - The CIF Division II Player of the Year, Agoura High School's Casey Flacks, has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Loyola Marymount women's water polo program in the Fall of 2008, Head Coach John Loughran announced on Tuesday. Flacks led Agoura High to the Division II Championship last spring.

"Casey is considered one of the top recruits in the nation. She has great speed and an incredibly high game-sense," said Loughran, who has led the Lions to the Western Water Polo Association title six of the last seven seasons. "Her offensive skills are well documented but her defensive prowess is what will carry her to success as we try to capture another WWPA title and meet our goal of winning an NCAA title."

The highly sought after 5-4 driver helped her team to the Division II Southern Sectional Finals the last three season, winning the title a year ago as a junior. In addition to her Player of the Year honor in 2007, Flacks has been a first-team All-CIF selection her three seasons of high school water polo.

The Daily News made her the 2007 Women's Water Polo Player of the Year as she follows the footsteps of her brother, Brian, and sister, Lindsey. Brian is a redshirt freshman at UCLA and was the 2005 Male Water Polo Player of the Year while her sister, a redshirt junior at Stanford, was the Daily News Athlete of the Year in 2004 while running cross country.

Casey earned All-America honors in both high school and club water polo, playing for the Los Angeles Water Polo Club.

She will join a Lions squad that earned its sixth WWPA title in the spring of 2007. The Lions had won five straight from 2001 through 2005, the most consecutive titles in school history.
