LMU Announces Spring Schedule

Two semi-professional squads, the under-20 national team, and the defending NCAA champions highlight LMU's spring schedule, Head Women's Soccer Coach Joe Mallia announced Friday. The Lions will open their non-traditional season Sunday, February 24 with a doubleheader against the University of Arizona (10:45 a.m.) and Arizona State (3:35 p.m.). Both games will be played on the campus of Arizona State. LMU will then play its first of two home spring games on Saturday, March 29, when it hosts AJAX of the Women's Premier Soccer League at 11 a.m. On Saturday, April 5, LMU will travel to USC to take on the reigning NCAA Division I champions at 10 a.m. Three days later, the Lions take the field at the Home Depot Center against the United States under-20 National Team. Another doubleheader on Saturday, April 12 will take LMU to Cal State Fullerton, where they will play against the Titans at 9 a.m. and Cal State Dominguez Hills at 11:45 a.m. The spring schedule comes to an end back at home on Saturday, April 19 with a visit from Pali Blues of the W-League. That day will also be alumni reunion day, with the alums staging a soccer tennis tournament at 4 p.m., followed by a barbeque at Sullivan Field. Alums wishing to participate in the festivities should RSVP to both Josh Schelhorse and Joe Mallia by April 10. In Mallia's first year, LMU went 12-6-1 in 2007 and finished third in the West Coast Conference.
