Final Stats

Fresno, CA - A final round of 288 helped the Loyola Marymount men's golf team to an ninth place finish at the 2008 Fresno State Lexus Golf Classic at the Fort Washington Country Club in Fresno, Calif., on Tuesday afternoon. The Lions finished the 20-team tournament with a one-over 865.

The Lions finished with rounds of 287, 290 and 288 to finish two strokes better than Portland and Nevada, who tied for 10th. The Lions were a stroke behind Boise State, who finished eighth with an 864. San Diego State won the championship at 23-under par.

Jason D'Amore led the Lions with a final round 67 to move from a tie at 37th into a tie for 11th. He finishes with a three-round 212 thanks to his final round score, which was the best among the 104-man field on the day. It is D'Amore's 27th career top-20 finish as he posted a flawless final round. He finished the day with five birdies and 13 pars. He went under on the par-3 third, on par-5's nine, 12 and 16, and on the par-4 15th.

Junior Brian Locke also posted a top-20 finish for the 28th time in his career with a three-round 213. He finished in a tie for 14th, posting rounds of 72, 68 and 73.

Junior Greg Moss had an impressive showing at a tie for 30th. He posted rounds of 71, 73 and 72 to finish with a 216. Rounding out the Lions' scores were junior Bryan Martin and Louie Bergna at 224 and 236, respectively.

The Lions will take three week off before playing in the Ogio Pacific Coast Intercollegiate hosted by UC Santa Barbara on Mar. 30 - April 1 at the Rancho San Marcos Golf Club in Santa Barbara.
