Ryan Wheeler is in his second season with LMU baseball... is a converted third baseman after playing first base in high school... is a big, physical, left-handed hitter... coaches note his great work ethic and feel his potential is unlimited... At LMU... 2007... hit .375 in 13 conference games... hit .261 for the season, playing in 39 games and making 27 starts... recorded two hits, one run, one RBI, one walk, and one double in his collegiate debut on 2/23 in a 9-5 win over Sacramento State... had two three-hit games in 2007, one on 4/15 in an 8-0 win over Saint Mary's and on 4/24 in a 14-8 loss to UC Irvine... recorded a career-high two RBI in each of those two games as well... High School... a 2006 graduate of Torrance High School in Torrance, Calif... was a two-time All-CIF (Div. IV) selection for Coach Ollie Turner... served as captain his senior season... hit .454 with 30 RBI as a senior... was also a three-time All-Pioneer League selection in basketball... Personal... Ryan Gerard Wheeler was born July 10, 1988, in Torrance, Calif... son of Heather and Gerard Wheeler... both parents played basketball in college, father for San Bernadino Valley and mother for the UCLA junior varsity team... has a younger brother, Jason... majoring in business administration. |
