Pride Perspectives
Feb. 19, 2008
Greetings all!! Since we've begun 2008 we have been having some really tough practices, gearing up towards racing, and making great strides as we move towards our spring goals. Last weekend, we did pieces back and forth on our home course in Ballona Creek. Switching coxswains in between each 2000 meter piece kept everyone on their toes, and the competition was tough, closer than ever. Our varsity eight, second varsity eight, and lightweight eight were all pushing each other the whole time. It's been great for us to have all three boats working hard and pressuring each other to improve. Now, with only two weeks until our first race we're getting anxious in a really good way. We're also loving the California weather and the fact that we'll be racing 2k's before many of our counterparts on the "other" coast even hit the water. Speaking of the beautiful weather, we'll take it as a good omen that we got a visit from a pod of dolphins as we finished off practice this morning. We'll check in again after our first race vs. UC Irvine and San Diego State at the Parker Cup! GO LIONS!! - The women's rowing captains
